Hi ladies!!! This will hopefully be the last time I bug you for money. It's Kimberly's turn next so if you could bring your $6 that would be great. According to my calculations, Kimberly you still owe $6 for last cycle (I'm meeting with Aaryn on Friday and will be giving her the money then) and Marie-Eve and Alex you both owe $1 for last cycle. Sorry for confusing you last week Marie-Eve. The reason there was extra money is because Eunice and Mischa paid extra last time to get it over with! Doh! Hi Guys,
Can anyone volunteer to have the babygroup at their house week? I forgot about babygroup when I arranged for my new daycare girl's first day to be on Thursday. I would really like to skip babygroup and just focus on her on Thursday.

I have never been, but just one one option for "stuff to do" on a drop-in basis. We are SD 61. It is from 0-5 yrs, and I think daily, depending on your local school. As I understand it, it it engineered as a sort of kindergarden prep. Maybe to bookmark for later? For whatever it's worth...

Results
Well I guess babygroup will be held at my place 942 Selkirk Ave (park on street) on Thursdays at 1-3 ish. The exception will be June 17th when I am away and Kimberly has offered to host.
Still waiting for the votes on snacks but I think we can safely say for next meeting there will be no snack unless someone wants to bring it.
The tone is much more casual. We will be phasing out mama's day out over the next few months until the last person receives it. This means that $6 due for the cycle would continue until it is completely phased out except for brand new members. Activities are no more, this will just be a nice time to visit. When it is nice out will set out some toys so please remember sunscreen and a blankey

Direction of Group
From what I am hearing the group would like to become a more casual drop in group. This would eliminate activities, snacks would be brought by everyone and Mommy's day would be terminated. I have added another poll (I know, I know- too many polls!) to make sure everyone gets their say especially about mommy's day out being terminated as it kinda sucks for those who have paid in every month but not had a chance to do something or buy something for themselfs.

Next Cycle- time to vote

The first is whether or not we would like to hold baby group at my (Mischa) place regularly. I would like to mention that I personally would love it as I have the space and I don't need to bundle up Colben and 2 daycare kids on the bus! This being said it is up to you. I would provide tea but we would rotate snacks, activity and juice.
The second poll is whether we can change the day to Thursdays so that our most reliable member and treasurer Tara can continue to come once she returns to work. I hope we can sort this out because I know we would all really hate to lose her.

"Fit in Fitness" Pass for April
I just saw a poster up at Commonwealth today for a super great deal. For the month of April, you can get a pass for unlimited drop-in activities at the 14 different rec centres in the region for only $20.10. Here's the website: http://www.fitinfitness.ca/index.php, and it's listed under the offers section on the left. I think you can get one of the passes at any of the different rec centres. The lady at Commonwealth said it's a picture swipe card, so be prepared to pose for a photo if you decide to pick one up :)

Free Swimming Lessons
I just found out about some free swimming lessons being offered at Gordon Head Rec Centre from March 8-12. The instructors are completing their training, so they aren't official swimming lessons with reports cards, but it could be a good way to get some ideas for swimming with your baby. There is a half hour lesson each day, from Monday to Friday. You have to call to register. The number for the Gordon Head Rec Centre is 250-475-7100. It looked like there were quite a few spaces left.

On March 10th we will be having a baby food swap. Leave in the comments of this post what you plan on making so that we don't make the same thing. Make 6 oz for each person participating and bring it in a ziploc baggie and the recipient will be responsible for freezing.

Fun Run Anyone? March 7th, 2010
This is separate from our normal meetups, but I was wondering if anyone would be interested in participating in a 5km fun run/walk... it is about 7 weeks away still. It is Sunday, March 7th, at a very early 8:30. My fitness level at the moment is pretty bad, and a target/committment like this usually helps me to get moving! (But honestly, this is not about PBs for me at least, there is a stroller involved after all, I just need a little push in an active direction)
I plan to test out the route (very near my home) to make sure it is stroller-friendly... but I already know from the map on the website that it goes through 2 parks on trails (Saxe Point and MacCauley Point)- so you would likely need (or could borrow) a robust jogging-type stroller. I will let everyboady know whether or not it is suitable at the next meeting at the latest.
The sign-up fee is relatively low too - $12, and limited to 50 registrants. Pass the word around and feel feel to invite otehrs from outside the usual group - the more the merrier!

I am spending increasing time with my hands free, but busy as ever trying to keep the little lady out of everything... she started crawling over Christmas! Stuff discussed at meeting
Well guys it was decided everything would stay the same...Wednesdays at 1pm. We would really like to see more people post up stuff to do in the off weeks. We have a vote on the blog about which way you would like us all to stay in contact about events schedules etc.
We discussed what age babies should be restricted to. We kind of decided roughly no babies born before 2009 but I think if there is an older sibling that is fine.

Housekeeping
With a bunch of new members I`d like to do some housekeeping, excuse the offical sounding talk. This is by no means in stone and others are welcome to discuss changes to it on Thursday:o)
-A reminder once the next cycle's schedule is set if you are unable to attend the week you have been assigned you must find someone to trade or take your day. If we find out the day of and no one has an activity the whole group loses out.
-Everyone misses out on a week or two (sick, travelling etc.) but on a whole we would like everyone to try to attend the full cycle- this is why we do it every 2 weeks.
-Please make sure that you give Tara the 6$ on the first week of the cycle. I'm sure it sucks to chase down people for money- ask my collectors..lol
- During the off weeks we are always looking for people to organize non-manditory group outings like movies, museum etc etc.
- Please keep in mind when choosing activities at what level babies are- I made the mistake of bringing a craft but the babies were still in arms so pretty tricky to do.
- Lets try to keep the group under 12 due to space issues and babies to around the same age if possible.
- New members that come in mid cycle will fill in any opening slots on schedule. The following cycle they will be moved to the top of the list in fairness to those who have participated longer.
- If you wish to invite a new member the more the merrier keeping in mind size issues. It is the responsibility of the old member to introduce the potential member via email with at least one weeks notice so that the the host, activity leader can prepare. Potential members may attend a trial day to see before they commit.
Now this has NOT been discussed with others but I would like to suggest we spend the 1st hour chatting 2 hour activity because it always seems difficult to start.
